Mon Oeuvre ~ On Ringo Lake Mystery Quilt progress 7

I put off sewing clue #5 for a few days, so on Thursday I had a sewing marathon. I got quite a bit done before Friday's clue #6 was released. You can see my chain pile of clue #5 behind the large stack of orange triangles. I set up my sewing machine on the dining room table, so I could glimpse/watch but mostly listen to the college football bowl games. This way I could watch a replay if it was exciting and I missed it while I was sewing. 

Clue #6 had us joining our pieced triangle units to the orange triangles.

I was making great progress and was feeling pretty good about myself, then I looked at Bonnie Hunter's blog on Saturday morning and saw WHAT!!!??? clue #7 with the announcement that we would now be getting a clue everyday. Yikes. I've been making a modest effort at keeping up. I like the challenge of keeping up with her clues, but this would be a game changer. I will do what I can and be happy with my progress. 

Clue #7 was another joining of already made pieces.

Sunday morning, with clue #8 she did a reveal of not the whole quilt, but a quilt block. We need to make "MANY" of these. Here's her scrappy version.

I made a sample one with my fabric choices and will get back to making more of them after I catch up and finish clue #7.

I woke up this morning (New Year's day) to see that clue #9 had been posted. It has the reveal photo and instructions with it. This is what the official "On Ringo Lake” Mystery Quilt looks like. Mine will be a little different because my quilt isn't "scrappy” like hers.

The "Reveal"

The quilt is edged in aqua this will allow the blocks to "float" in the border, as if they were "on" Ringo lake.

 I've never done a quilt where the blocks are set on-point and the blocks are assembled on the diagonal. This quilt has already been a stretch for my skills, so this will be interesting to put together.

Nothing like a tornado ending. 

I love her Mystery Quilts, but I think she likes to drive us all a little mad in the process. Ha!

I'm wondering how many months it will take me to put this one together...........
