Another Washington state PCT section journey for us began August 17th. Our daughter joined us on this section. On our drive down we caught a glimpse of Mount Rainier.
Our hike starting day was August 18th.
We stayed with family in the area the night before our hike. We got our packs all sorted out and got ready for the drive to forest service road 23. They graciously drove us in their pickup up the old logging road to the trailhead. The plan was for them to pick us up at the end of our trip also.
Ready or not!

Our daughter with the PCT emblem
After walking through a nice forest and taking a break beside a creek we made our way through an old burn. We checked on the Guthook app for a water source and camp site. We found both!
Our sock and clothes drying tree!
The nice "very green and lush" creek near our camp.
The camp site was roomy enough for all of us. My daughter and I shared the tent while my husband slept in his lean-to.
Before we called it a night, they played cribbage. She won.
We then did our customary readings: a Patrick McManus story and the next days' trail summary info.
