The first clue was given out the day after Thanksgiving. Knowing this was an easy clue, I put it off for the last minute😂.
I started cutting my fabric yesterday, got a small portion of the required number made. I got up this morning and set myself the goal of finishing them today. Since the new clues are released every Friday, I wanted to complete this clue today.

Semiahmoo Stroll

Clear skies and a light Northeast breeze for our day after Thanksgiving walk on Friday.
We walked the beach side to the Semiahmoo Marina cafe for a late lunch and then the paved trail back to the Semiahmoo Whatcom county parks, parking lot. No Seals today, but lots of birds.
Great views of the mountains, both in the U.S. and Canada.

High tide, but still a bit of beach to walk on.

Scoutina thought the water temp was fine

View of Whiterock, B.C. from the Spit

The Semiahmoo Marina with a view of  Mt. Baker and the Twin sisters.

Saw a couple of Harlequin ducks at the point of the strip (zoomed in cell phone photos).

Then on to lunch at the cafe.
I had Split pea/Black forest ham soup with cornbread and a cup of Lemon Ginger tea, my husband had a Cheeseburger and an Oat milk latte. We enjoyed our lunch outside in the sunshine, Yum!
Our walk was just about 3 miles. Great weather to enjoy the November day.

Baking day

I haven't made any Onion Braid for a few years. It's nice to be getting back to my old habits.
Baking day for the Thanksgiving meal.
This is a recipe from my Aunt, it's always a favorite in our family.
Dough ready to be braided.

Braids ready to rise.

The house is full of the aroma of freshly baked bread🧡

Mon Oeuvre - Indigo Way Mystery Quilt

"Oeuvre" (the works of a painter, composer, or author regarded collectively: "the complete Oeuvre of Mozart" a work of art, music or literature.: "an early Oeuvre" ORIGIN late 19th century.: FRENCH literally 'work'  - Oxford dictionary.)

It's Mystery Quilt season again! I skipped last year but I'm jumping in again this year.
Mystery Quilts I've completed:
I always buy the refrigerator magnet when I complete one.

This winter's Mystery Quilt by Bonnie Hunter is named "Indigo Way".

The Quilt name and it's colors were inspired by her trip to Viet Nam. She was intrigued by the Red Dao women of the Sapa Mountain region. I found these stock photos showing them with their red hats and indigo colored clothing. These women are known for how dark they dye their fabrics with the Indigo color.

This years quilt colors represent the clothes worn by the women:
Red for the large red hats
Blue for the Indigo color of their dye
My fabrics choices following the recommendations given in her "Introductory" blog post.

Paint chip recommendations:

The first clue will be the Friday after Thanksgiving.
Pre-washing and pressing until then.....

Hiking to the Balds aka Goose Rock

Last week we hiked on the other side of the bridge (Fidalgo Island: Rosario Bowman Bay), you can read about that hike HERE. Today we hiked on the Whidbey Island side of the bridge and to the Balds/Goose Rock from the Deception Pass bridge parking lot. We usually start at the Cranberry lake/ West beach parking lot, but we made it a little shorter by beginning at the bridge. You can read WTA's trip report here if you want to hike the 4.3 mile route from the beach: https://www.wta.org/go-hiking/hikes/deception-pass-goose-rock.
We followed the stairs near the bridge and made our way west until we came to our Trail junction, we then made our way through the tunnel and under highway 20.
Our dog Scoutina obediently waiting for people to pass us on the trail💖
My husband has been teaching her to sit when people and dogs go by or anytime we stop walking, she's getting pretty good at it.

View of North Beach from the trail.

In the map photo below I put red hashes on our route. There is an unmarked trail that goes off of the North beach connector trail that connects with the Discovery trail. The Discovery trail connects to this trail at the overpass tunnel.

Tiny mushrooms on a mossy log.

We then made our way around the point, with it's great views of Cornet bay.
So many old trees on this trail.

Wood Nymph sighting in the forest.

Making our way on the fall leaf covered trail.

Enjoying the Cornet bay view.

Madrona bark peeling.

Making our way up and over a rocky cliff.

Back down at the water level of the trail, we saw Mt. Baker.

Mt. Baker looking nice in it's new snow.

Tiny mushrooms

Almost at the top.

A reminder to respect the Balds, all of them!

Views from the top and yes our dog.

My husband stopped and pointed out at something.

Ah, yes he spotted a
deer.

Back to the bridge. Just some stairs up to the parking lot and we were done.

Our heart shaped route!
3.2 miles
719 feet elevation gain.
