Chuckanut, Blanchard and a Wild Goose

Last week we had family (my brother Phil and his wife Rosaura) visiting, and they were excited to hike some of our local trails with us. As I said in my last POST, I was surprised I was up for any hiking. I thought I'd be really sore, I was pleasantly surprised that I wasn't sore at all.
Tuesday's Chuckanut mtn. hike was to Fragrance lake from the Lost Lake trail parking lot, we hiked up the road a short way's then went "up" a mountain bike trail till we joined the road leading into the Fragrance lake trail.

We ate our lunches at the lake, then hiked down to the view point trail.

Thursday we went to Blanchard mtn. We started at the Samish Overlook and headed to the Larry Reed trail and Max's Shortcut then on to the North Butte for lunch.

Lizard Lake

The weather tried to get a bit rainy for our lunch break so we got off of the Butte and sat in the trees while we ate.

Oyster Dome

Then down the Oyster Dome trail and back to Samish Overlook.

Friday found us with a bright blue sunny day. So we all piled in our Van and headed up to Mt. Baker. We drove to the lot just where the road is gated. The road on up to Artist's Point is closed for the season.
Looking down at Bagley lakes.

Then up the Wild Goose trail. I love this trail. There are stairs most of the way up it and they are spaced just right for my legs. Which is rare on a trail.

Is that a Wild Goose?! No, just my silly husband!

We enjoyed walking in the snow before the trail met the road. Just a short ways left and we were in the Artist Point parking lot.

Such a nice time sharing "our" trails with family.
