PCT Section H Day three, FS road 23 to Snowgrass flats

A nice little creek to cross as we began our day.

We hiked through meadows and wildflowers.

We got to climb over another downed tree.

After crossing this creek we began to make our way into a Lava field area.

A rest stop among the boulders.

We passed a milky colored creek that looked so pretty with the wildflowers growing along it's banks.

Mt. Adams

Our first larger water crossing, the Lewis river.

After watching my husband go through the river, my daughter and I picked our way through. Thankfully it wasn't very deep.

Another volcanic area to walk through. This one had sulphur rocks strewn here and there.

We then came to Adams creek. There was a bundle of skinny logs pushed together for a crossing.

It wasn't too bad to cross. I had difficulty trusting where to put my trekking poles and where to place my feet, but we all managed to get across without getting wet.

Looking back at it. It really doesn't look difficult does it?!

Wildflowers along the trail❤

We found a nice meadow with a view of Mt. Adams for our lunch stop.

Indigo colored flowers

We carry mustard packets on our hikes because it helps cramps go away. Our daughter realized she could have a deli treat if she put mustard on her jerky treat. Simple pleasures of trail life!

There was a large Elk sighting in the meadow while we were eating.

The meadow gave us a nice place to unwind before marching on.

We passed three unnamed ponds on our way through this area. I named them Lovely lake 1, 2 and 3. No pond should go unnamed.

I thought these large rocks were interesting as we walked by them.

The meadow near Killen creek was sprinkled with white flowers.

We entered the Muddy Meadow and the South Fork of the Muddy creek area.

and another crossing.

After checking out Tributary camp we decided to go the short distance to the next camp, Lava Springs.

Our daughter soaking her feet in the very cold Lava spring.

Me, doing my camp nurse duties. Blister prevention. We got her fixed up and encouraged her to saturate her feet with Foot Glide. *it worked

Our nightly reading was held at the spring after dinner.

More reading in a cozier place.

Tent all set up, we're ready for bed.

PCT Section H Day two, FS road to Snowgrass flats

Second day on the trail.
I forgot to mention the books/titles my husband reads from on the first POST of this journey. At nights on this trip my husband read from this book

and he reads the next days trail info. from a section we tore out of our  "Hiking the Pacific Crest Trail Washington" book by Tami Asars.

Now...on to our second day. We had a deer visit our camp as we were packing up. It stayed near us, our camp was by a creek so I think it was around because of the water. When we pulled up the ground cover from under our tent we found this cutie snake. I think it had tried to find a warm place to spend the night.

Our hike took us through an old burn with great views of the mountains around us.

Mount Adams visible through the trees.

Our daughter enjoying the Blueberries along the trail.

A photo of me, happy to be in the high country❤

Mount Saint Helen's in the distance.

Mount Hood in the distance.

Always fun to see the PCT trail signs.

We found a nice log to sit on for our lunch break, near the Stagman ridge trail junction.

I was happy the wildflowers were still in bloom since our daughter was along. I really wanted her to get to enjoy them before they stopped blooming.

Mount Rainier

Another photo of  Mount Saint Helens.

Pretty white flowers.

We found this interesting cave alongside the trail. Too small for a person, but I bet an animal likes to spend it's winters in there.

Sheep lake, our camp destination. I went down and soaked my feet for awhile in the lake. It felt so good.

Our daughter was intent on learning how to operate the stove for cooking, so she could help out better and to learn for when her family wanted to go backpacking. It was great that she did that, because each night after that she got the hot water going while we set up camp and had either chicken broth or tea ready when we were done. Wonderful❤

She was dubbed the intern and she took her job seriously.

Just around the corner from our campsite was this view of Mount Adams.

All tucked in and ready for the night.
