South Bay trail hike

We woke to snow today.

We thought about doing our "hike" day at the gym, but decided to head into Bellingham and hopefully some friendly "no ice" sidewalks.
We chose the South Bay trail. beginning our day in Fairhaven.
Village Green
There was little to no snow on the ground so we enjoyed great footing, no slipping or sliding around.
The views over the water were beautiful.

We made our way through Boulevard park

and followed the trail up to the Depot Market area of Bellingham.

Our turnaround destination was for lunch, Woods coffee on Railroad avenue.

We made our way back through Boulevard park

and saw some Snowdrops ready to bloom.

As we came back to the Village Green we decided to stop in at Village Books for a bit. I bought Heather "Anish" Anderson's book "Thirst: 2600 Miles to Home". Heather's most recent accomplishment was to complete the Calendar year Triple Crown in 2018. You can read an article from Outside magazine about her accomplishment HERE. The Calendar year triple crown is when someone completes hiking the 2190 mile Appalachian trail, the 2650 mile Pacific Crest trail and the 3100 mile Continental Divide trail in one calendar year. If you haven't heard of her or her accomplishments, you can read about them HERE.
She is going to be at Village Books giving an authors talk March 11th.
