Today we went to Church mtn.
The trail before we began our way up the switchbacks. The first switchback started after about 1/2 mile. It's about 3 miles to the meadow, we crossed a couple of little streams and we got to climb over and around several large trees that had blown down. There were a few flowers & mushrooms along the trail as we made our way to the meadow.
Finally the meadow❤, the trail is wide open to the top. Such spectacular views.
We stopped shortly after this creek and sat on some rocks and enjoyed the sun while we ate half of our lunch.
Then we made our way up the last section to the top.
The peak on the left in the distance is our destination.
Looking down at the Nooksack river.
A short scramble through the rocks to the top.
Views at the top.
Just one cloud came alongside of us, but other than that it was nice and warm on the top for us as we finished our lunch.
We checked out a small side trail on our way down and noted that it would be a nice camping spot on another day's adventure on Church mtn.
Today was a great day of hiking in the high country❤
Garmin stats:
total miles hiked - 10.3
total ascent - 3635 feet
I've been to the meadow so far this year, and considering how difficult I found the climb to the top last year, I might be done for such a long hike, so I sure enjoyed seeing your pictures. Thank you for the lovely visit to the summit. :-)
