Today we chose to hike on the Interurban trail. We began at the North Chuckanut trailhead. We walked north a short way on Hwy 11 to where it intersects with Old Samish hwy, we then hiked through Arroyo park. We crossed the bridge and made our way to the Interurban trail. Our goal was to hike to Larrabee State park and have lunch at the beach and then make our way back.

We walked about a mile and then put on our rain gear, which was kept on for most of the day. There was a slight breeze that was a bit chilly, so I wore my waterproof mittens on my belt. They are fleece lined so “extra cozy”, they were on and off a lot today.

We crossed the road and walked to the Amphitheater.
I stopped to read the plaque, about Larrabee State park being the first State park in Washington. It was created in 1915.
The path to the beach begins at the "under the railroad tracks" tunnel, with a wonderful mural painted in bright colors❤
We walked out to the point in search of an out of the wind place for lunch.
You can see by my husbands rain poncho that there was quite the breeze by the shore.
We walked to the other side of the point and found a sheltered place with a view of the cove behind us
and the bay in front of us.
Two Harlequin ducks kept us company while we ate.
As we made our way back up through the State park the clouds began to part and we actually saw some blue sky.
After crossing the road we made our way back up to the Interurban trail.
The trail has a few road crossings, but they are few and far between.
The return hike was much drier and warmer. We saw a three point Buck on our way back, just out of camera range but what a treat!
We had some glimpses of the water through the trees as we made our way along the trail and back to the parking lot.
A different kind of hike, but very fun!
