Walking along the North Lake Whatcom trail

Today our schedule was a nice easy walk, so we chose the North Lake Whatcom trail. Our plan was to walk out 2 1/2 miles and then return for a total of 5 miles for the day.
The clouds were rather dark and the breeze was a bit chilly at our start.

Salmon berries

More Salmon berries

The water was very green under the leaves near the shore.

Still a dark sky with just a touch of blue.

Honeysuckle

A pretty little ground cover growing over this log.

I'm not sure what his bush is but I took a photo of it with a close up of the flower in the photo below it.

Our turn around 2 1/2 mile stop with a nice place to sit for a bit and enjoy the view.

Maple tree helicopters.

Close up of the Maple tree's helicopters.

Another dark sky view at the next bench stop.

Columbine

The trail has 2 bridge crossings. Here's the view from the first one.

The bridge.

Zoom in on the photo below, do you see anything??

It made a hasty retreat when it realized it was being watched. We saw several on the trail today.

One more photo of helicopters or Maple tree seed pods. These are from a Vine Maple.

A nice 5 mile walk with flowers, great views and a bit of wildlife!
